Following Yohji Yamamoto's Spring/Summer 1999 wedding-themed collection, the exhibition "Millennium Dress: Yohji Yamamoto and the Couturiers of Paris" was held in Tokyo in February 2000.
The book was created for the exhibition and shows catwalk photographs and design drawings of the dresses in the exhibition along with an interview with Yohji Yamamoto.
It consists of couture and ready-to-wear dresses between Spring/Summer 1999 and Spring/Summer 2000 by eight brands including Viktor & Rolf, Jean Paul Gaultier, Chanel and Dries Van Noten.
